The birth house of Ciril Kosmač

On the opposite bank of the Idrijca river lies the Kosmač homestead, where the famous Slovenian writer Ciril Kosmač lived. In the attic of the house you can see a modest but interesting exhibition that tells about the writer’s life, work and time in which he lived. The homestead is a fine example of the residential culture of this part of Primorska at the end of the 19th century, so it is certainly worth a visit.

Franja partisan hospital

A former partisan war hospital, hidden in a picturesque gorge with small waterfalls. The path is partly renovated and safe for families to walk up to the part with barracks and museum exhibits. . You will have to pay a small entrance fee.
SPA and SKI Hotel Cerkno

A relatively small skiing center with slopes a varying difficulty, very good for families. The restaurant at the top, Alpska perla, offers good food for a reasonable price. In the summer this is lovely place to hike along well marked trails with terrific views.

The Cerkno Museum merits a brief visit. Its collection provides a glimpse into the history of the town and region.
Archeological Park Divje babe

A cave with archeological findings, it is not a place where you can drive to the entrance. You need sturdy shoes, a lamp and a bit of hiking.

Miner’s House

Not far from the town center, dug into the hill and surrounded with vegetable gardens stands one of the last miners’ houses that shaped the look and character of Idrija.
Lake “Divje jezero” (Wild lake)
The mysterious karst lake Divje jezero near Idrija is one of the gems of Slovenia’s natural heritage. As early as 1967 it was protected as a monument of natural heritage and since 1972 it has attracted numerous visitors, being the first ever outdoor museum in Slovenia. Located approximately 2 km south from the town of Idrija. The lake is hidden in a rocky cave below the abyss of the northern edge of the Črni vrh plateau and is connected to the mysterious world of underground watercourses.

A rafting trip from Boka/Srpenica to Trnovo ob Soci is a classic descent, ranging from a calm beginning to an adrenaline-filled ending. You start near the majestic Boka waterfall, surrounded by amazing views, and finish with whitewater rapids that is sure to get your blood pumping.
Javorca (Tolmin)
High above the valley of the Tolminka river, there is a place of worship made almost entirely of wood, the Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca, which bears the European Cultural Heritage label.
Tolmin gorge (Tolmin)
Just a stone’s throw away from Tolmin, at the confluence of Tolminka and Zadlaščica, the two streams have carved deep gorges into the rock. A tourist path which affords a view of the gorges both from the top and from the bottom runs along the crystal clear turquoise water. The gorges are the lowest point of the Triglav National Park and one of the most popular tourist spots in the region.
Kobarid Museum
The Kobarid Museum is the centre of the heritage of the Isonzo Front on the Slovenian, European and global scale. Unique demonstrations of the life and struggles during the war, exhibits, rich photo material and the multivision projection tell the touching story of historic brutalities in and around the Soča river valley.
Triglav National Park
The only national park in Slovenia, it was established in its modern form in 1981. It is located in the northwestern part of the country, forming the southeastern part of the Alps. Triglav, the highest peak of the Julian Alps, stands almost in the middle of the national park.
